Certifications

The Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal, together with the University for Foreigners of Siena, offers the opportunity to take the CILS exam: an internationally recognized certification certifying a degree of communication skills in Italian L2.

Certification levels correspondence with the levels of the Cadre européen commun de référence pour les langues (CECRL).

Deadline for registration: April 15th 2025. Attention: the number of registrations is limited. Exam Date: June 11th 2025.

Candidates can enroll directly at the level of their choice and without access conditions.

Before registration closes, it is necessary to send an email to the course secretariat (cours.iicmontreal@esteri.it) the following documents:

1) Module CILS fill out in capital letters: name, place and date of birth must be indicated as it appears on a valid ID card. Very important:

  • for those who have already taken a Cils exam, indicate the registration number on the form;
  • for those who pass the B1 Citizenship certification: indicate on the registration form: CITIZENSHIP EXAM B1

2) Legible photocopy of an ID card (passport or driver’s license)

3) Module CILS and photocopy of an ID card should be in a unique PDF

4) Registration fees must be paid by credit card (at the change on the day) by going through a link MONERIS – GO PORTAL

One week before the exam, each candidate will receive an email to attend the exam and important information.

Results:
To access the results on the University of Siena website, you must enter your registration number and date of birth. The secretariat now invites all members to carefully keep the registration number communicated during the exam.

The CILS Center publishes the results on the University for Foreigners website over a period of time that can vary from 2 to 4 months depending on the level and number of candidates. The certificate in paper format can take up to 6 months to receive it at the Institute. We will inform you when they arrive.

Resume part of the exam

To pass the CILS it is necessary to obtain a minimum grade for each test. If you fail one of the tests you can repeat it again in the next session. On the other hand, in the case of level B1-citizenship, if you do not pass one of the tests, you cannot repeat it in the next session, you have to redo the entire exam.
