The coffee ritual is a must in Italy, despite the relatively recent invention of the Moka and the espresso machine dating back to the first half of the 20th century. These machines, however, quickly entered the daily life of Italians, they have become symbols to the point of becoming cult objects of Italian design thanks, among others, to Alessi and Smeg. During this visit we will explore the different facets of the role of coffee in Italy and also the impact that the arrival of the espresso culture has had in North America.
