Dante dies in exile in Ravenna in 1321. Almost thirty years later, Giovanni Boccaccio (Sergio Castellitto) is commissioned to bring, as symbolic compensation, ten gold florins to his daughter Sister Beatrice, in a monastery in Ravenna. Retracing part of Dante’s journey from Florence to Ravenna and stopping in his own places, Boccaccio reconstructs the human story of the Supreme Poet, to the point of narrating his entire existential story. Maestro Pupi Avati restores the extreme humanity of the greatest poet Italy has ever known.
