Screening of the documentary film “Liliana” by Ruggero Gabbai – Cinéma du Musée Montreal

download

LILIANA is a documentary of Ruggero Gabbai which retraces the testimony of Senator for Life Liliana Segre linked to the arrest, deportation and the heartbreaking final farewell to her father. The film is based on juxtapositions, references and contrasts between the historical story and the contemporary portrait of one of the most important women in the Italian panorama. The documentary film highlights the lesser-known aspects of the senator, revealing a modern cultural and political figure who is passionate about transmitting a message of freedom and equality to the younger generations.

In recent decades, Senator Segre has testified on several occasions, starting in 1994 with the interview with Liliana Picciotto. These contents, created and preserved by the CDEC Foundation in an archive, are still mostly unpublished and it is precisely around these that the narrative of the documentary is built.
