In the summer of 2012, the directors Mariangela Barbanente and Cecilia Mangini began a road trip to understand how Puglia, their homeland, which had been the subject of a series of documentaries made by Mangini in the 1960s, had changed. During the same summer, a judge admits that the city of Taranto is hostage to the pollution of the ILVA steelworks and for this reason orders the arrest of the owner Emilio Riva.

An important stop on “Cecilia’s Journey” is the city Taranto. This film is part of the ‘Interrail’ cycle, a journey through contemporary European cinema, organized by the EUNIC cluster in Montreal (European National Institutes for Culture).
