June 22 2017, 7:30pm Free admission
Casa d’Italia
505 rue Jean-Talon Est, Montréal
Pirandello’s Atti unici derive mostly from short stories that the author collected in his Novelle per un anno. Thanks to their novelistic origins, the acts feature a wide variety of settings and characters, like the souls of a cemetery, a religious celebration and its devotees, and the busy environment of a newspaper agency.
Far from being secondary texts, the Atti unici are extraordinarily modern. They represent a great opportunity to get acquainted with the work of one of the most important playwrights of all time and the crucial elements of its poetry, such as reality and its distorted perception, the sacred and its denial, identity and its incommunicability.
