Screening of “Dans la ville blanche” by Alain Tanner

Senzanome

Paul, a mechanic on board a freighter, arrives in Lisbon for no particular reason. Installed in a hotel room, he experiences this stay as a parenthesis in his life, an interlude during which he experiences a great existential void. He strolls for days in the city, filming with his Super-8 camera images that he sends to his wife, in Switzerland, accompanied by letters recounting his long hours of meditation. He meets Rosa, a waitress in a bar, establishes a relationship with her and falls in love with her. Attacked and robbed at the bend of a street, he is hospitalized. However, without news of him and believing in an abandonment, Rosa leaves Portugal to go to work in France without leaving an address. Paul then takes the train home.
