Roberto Lucanero will perform a repertoire of traditional tunes from the Marche region and Central-Southern Italy on the diatonic button accordion. Serving as a bridge between the various pieces will be some of his own compositions, which are inspired by oral tradition music but developed through a contemporary musical language. Some of these have been featured as soundtracks and stage music in audiovisual and theatrical productions, dedicated primarily to the Marche region.

Roberto Lucanero is a musician and ethnomusicologist. He plays the accordion, the diatonic button accordion, and the portative organ professionally, with a career spanning from contemporary music to pop, and from jazz to oral tradition music. He is the author of articles and essays dedicated to the accordion, jazz, and traditional music.
He has helped bring the saltarello and traditional music from the Marche region to international balfolk circuits. He has dedicated two albums to this repertoire: Marchigianista (2011), which has a more visionary character, and Lu.Me. Vivo (2015), which is more closely tied to tradition. He has taught History of Jazz, Improvised, and Audio-Tactile Music at the Conservatory of L’Aquila, and is currently a doctoral candidate at the “Gaetano Braga” Conservatory in Teramo.
He teaches diatonic button accordion at the “Paolo Soprani” Civic School of Music in Castelfidardo. He regularly conducts workshops on the diatonic accordion and traditional folk dance from the Marche region at major Italian folk festivals.
