Considered the manifesto show of her research on the political body, Gentle Unicorn by and with Chiara Bersani, an artist active in the performing and visual arts, earned her an Ubu as best actress and performer under 35 last season. To the unicorn, a mythological figure whose origins are unknown and whose form and meanings have changed through the centuries, “a creature without a country and without history, used and abused by human beings, deprived of the right to speak,” Chiara Bersani consecrates her own body – flesh, muscles and bones, heart, eyes and breath – to compensate it for the wrongs it has suffered. To give it a story, a love, a choice.
