“Eau de Eau” — Chronicles of a Perfume That Does Not Exist, by Max Papeschi and Arianna Bonucci

EAU EAU

In an era where water scarcity is no longer a future threat but a reality already affecting millions of people, art has the duty to shake us, to strip us of our certainties, and to bridge the distance that, even symbolically, often arises between us and the world around us. This is precisely what Eau de Eau does, an artistic and conceptual project by Max Papeschi and Arianna Bonucci.

Thursday, May 14 – 6:00 PM
Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, 1200 Av. du Dr Penfield
Free admission with reservation (RSVP)

Presented in Milan on May 21, 2025, during an event that elegantly “deceived” its guests, Eau de Eau is not just an art object, but a sharp and uncompromising critique of our system of values. Water, the universal symbol of life, becomes here a fetish, a luxury good, trapped in a beautifully designed bottle and sold as if it were an exclusive fragrance. Thus, what should be a right becomes a privilege. And, let’s be clear, this is already the reality in many parts of the world.

His works have been featured in major cultural events in Italy and abroad. Recent projects include Extinction (since 2023), a traveling exhibition exploring humanity as if it were extinct, and Eau de Eau (2025), created with Arianna Bonucci and toured across the United States.
