On the occasion of the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal presents a series of events dedicated to the Italian language, education and culture, with the participation of professors and researchers from the University for Foreigners of Perugia, as well as a guided tour exploring Italian influences on the history of Montréal.

  • Screening of Quasi grazia by Peter Marcias

Monday, October 19 | 6:00 p.m.
Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal
1200 Dr. Penfield Avenue, Montréal

Three crucial moments mark the life of the renowned Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda: the unexpected arrival of her mother from Nuoro, the hours leading up to her receiving the most prestigious literary prize in the world, and the moments when a doctor looks into her eyes, searching for words that might make the pain easier to bear. Between these three moments unfolds the life of the only Italian woman to have won the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Through this intimate and sensitive portrait, the film also explores the relationship between women and literature, as well as contemporary issues surrounding the status of women.
