“The Long Road of Sand” – Exhibition

image-a-utiliser

The photo exhibition “The Long Road of Sand,” curated by Silvia Di Paolo, began as a reportage made in 1959 by Pier Paolo Pasolini and Paolo Di Paolo, published in the magazine “Successo”.

The purpose of the reportage is to recount the Italy of the new economic miracle, through the summer vacations of Italians. Pasolini and Di Paolo travel along the entire Italian coast from Ventimiglia to Trieste in the middle of summer, in a partnership that appears complex: if Pasolini recounts nostalgically in his writings of a lost Italy, Di Paolo in his photographs searches for the Italy of the future, and tells of the arduous road to prosperity.
