Thursday October 26,2017 – 2:30pm -4pm
McGill University
MacDonald Engeering Building, Room 276
Free admission – Conference in English

The conference by Lidia Santarelli is a scholary presentation to the movie Le Soldatesse, scheduled at Cinémathèque Québécoise (October 26, 7pm). The Soldatesse is a work by Valerio Zurlini dedicated to the years of fascism and war. Both this film and Zurlini’s cinema evoke a world of hopes, fleeting joys and despair, thanks to its natural introspective power.
The legacy of Zurlini as a teacher as a forgotten master of historical criticism and psychological research is largely based on his rediscovery and revaluation.

Lidia Santarelli is a modern historical. She achieved a doctorate in history at the European University Institute in Florence and she has been a researcher at Columbia University and Assistant Professor at European and Mediterranean Studies at New York University. There are several areas of her scientific research: Italian fascism, employment systems, history and memory of war crimes in post-1945 Europe. She currently runs Metadata Librarian at Princeton University Library.
