PASSAGES is the theme of the 16th edition of the Rencontres. From July 15 to September 30, the public is invited to discover the exhibitions of Davide Degano and Alessandra Calò, presented across some of the most beautiful sites of the Gaspé Peninsula.
This theme explores the passage of time and the traces left by encounters, friendship, forgetting, and absence. Moving between memory and motion, it questions our relationship to objects, places, others, and fleeting moments.
PASSAGES evokes the transition between what has been and what is yet to come: a suspended space between two worlds, where echoes of the past resonate alongside promises of the future. Like photography, which captures a moment while leaving room for interpretation and imagination, this theme invites us to grasp these turning points—those invisible thresholds where the image becomes memory, trace, and transformation.
Once again this year, the Rencontres, supported by numerous international collaborations, will highlight photographers from abroad—France, Italy, and Japan—alongside artists from Canada and the Gaspé region.
