“Mirabiles. The Guardians of the myth” is a video document, both journalistic and sentimental. The authors, wandering around the beloved Campi Flegrei, in Campania, in the ancient south of Italy, have focused five archaeological sites of great charm but little known and especially without entry box. Caretakers that are aged people residing between Bacoli and Pozzuoli, keep them alive. The Italian goverment relies on those ancient sites without having the possibility of organizing their availability differently.
Caretakers have become legendary figures for tourists and locals over the decades. The documentary aims to spread awarnes of the enourmes cultural locations through the words of those who, for generations, has taken care of it every day, voluntarily. The places are: Mirabilis Swimming Pool, Dragonara Cave, Roman Theater, Agrippina Tomb, Sibyl Grotto.
