Leyla teaches Renaissance Art History at Saint Luke University, a prestigious American university located on the border with Canada. She is an independent and strong-willed woman, yet suffering from a strange syndrome, until Michael, a student, sneakily sneaks into her and her partner’s life …
To tie them in the present as in their past existence, Tommaso Campanella – late Renaissance philosopher, astrologer and revolutionary magician – whose prisons and escapes are intertwined with the events of the two contemporary protagonists, as well as their forced removals between New York, Naples and Paris. The Caravaggio painting of the Sette opere di Misericordia, a sounding board of the experiences of abandonment and emancipation experienced by Michael and Leyla, but also a canvas secretly inspired by Campanella’s heretical lesson, seals this conversation with three voices.
