“Un avant-goût de design italien!” – Exhibition

fffff

The Department of Architecture of Laval University, with the Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal and the Consulate General of Montréal, organizes the exhibition entitled “Un avant-goût de design italien!

The exhibition presents a selection of emblematic everyday objects that celebrate the Italian passion for tableware: plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, coffee pots, teapots and cocktail objects made by Alessi which create a sort of new domestic landscape composed of special objects, both functional and aesthetic, now classics of Italian style in the world. Ettore Sottsass, Richard Sapper, Michele De Lucchi, Alessandro Mendini, David Chipperfield, Aldo Rossi, Michael Graves, Achille Castiglioni, Mario Trimarchi, Michael Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui, Zaha Hadid are the protagonists of this exhibition where objects become “objects of poetics reaction” on the shelves of the library, integrated among the books of the architecture school. The relationship between design and architecture is one of the themes constantly present in design culture. In the creation of objects designed by architects there has always been research linked to spatial perception and constant work of creative reinterpretation of the concepts of typology and archetype.
