Matteo Ferrari, Maramao: Songs Between the Wars

PH_GIUSEPPE_GRADELLA

Italian actor and singer Matteo Ferrari (Les Misérables, Rent, A Little Night Music and the Warner/Chappell Music album Snoopy, the Musical!) makes his solo debut in Montreal.

The show wants to pay homage to the artists who have made the history of Italian song and, despite the climate of conflicts, dictatorships and censorship of the moment, have always wanted to seek “il sole in fronte”.
A blast from the past among the most beautiful melodies composed between 1915 and 1945 which borrowed heavily from the sounds of American jazz that was spreading at that time. “Ma l’amore no”, “Tu, musica divina”, “Il pinguino innamorato” and many other masterpieces born from truly inspired and immortal pens such as Giovanni D’Anzi, Cesare Andrea Bixio, Carlo Innocenzi e Mario Consiglio, which Matteo will interpret live, involving the spectators in a direct dialogue, which leaves room for emotions.

The favor with which the concert was received by the public and critics pushed the Trentino artist to record an album entitled Maramao. The musical collection, available digitally, in streaming and on CD, was published and distributed worldwide by the historic Italian label Bluebelldisc Music, except for the United States and Canada where the album was distributed by PS Classics, a renowned Broadway label in whose catalog Matteo appears as the only Italian artist.

A unique opportunity to see what critics have defined as “Splendid” (Nick Wakeham, Musical Theater Review) and listen to “One of the new great Italian voices” (BroadwayWorld) with “Not indifferent technical mastery” (Ente Rovigo Festival) and “Refined mimicry” (Luigia Favalli, Il Ticino).
