The Italian playwright, Giulia Tollis, at the “Rencontres internationales de jeunes critiques professionnels des arts de la scène” – 2019 edition

Thanks to the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, we are pleased to announce this year, Giulia Tollis will participate at the Rencontres internationales de jeunes critiques professionnels des arts de la scène 2019 edition.

Les Rencontres internationales de jeunes créateurs et critiques des arts de la scène consists of a 11 day event, from May 25th to June 4th 2019, realized on the occasion the 12th of Festival TransAmériques which will take place from May 22 to June 4th 2019. Grouping together more than twenty young professionals between 25 and 35 years – artists and critics performing from Quebec, Canada, and abroad – encounters are conducted in French in the form of seminars, inside which participants are invited to deepen their reflection on contemporary scenic creation, to compare their artistic realities and their critical views and share their expertise with other participants . A mediator will accompany them throughout the project.

Giulia Tollis – born in the Friuli region in 1984, playwright. Founding member of Teatro dei Gordi, Vice President of the Association and responsible for training projects. She graduated from the IUAV University of Venice in Visual Arts and Performing Arts and graduated in Theater Writing at the Paolo Grassi Civic School in Milan. Her training continued in France (Paris, Pont-à-Mousson, Villeneuve-les-Avignon,) and in Germany, in Berlin, where, at the Schaubühne, she deepened the work of the dramaturg. She lives in Milan, where she collaborates with the Civic School of Teatro Paolo Grassi, the Cie SestoSpazio and the Cie Guinea Pigs. Since 2014 she has been working on the Mateârium project – a workshop for new dramaturgies, dedicated to training new playwrights and experimenting with new languages. For the theatre, she wrote Chi resiste alla palude (2010), Portrait d’un rebel (2011), I Giallastri – Speriamo che cambi il tempo (2013) and she took care of the Italian adaptation of Il Grande Gigante Gentile by R. Dahl (2014).
