The Italian conductor Fabrizio Ventura at the Opéra de Montréal with Gaetano Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor”

Opéra de Montréal, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, will present “Lucia di Lammermoor” by Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848), directed by Fabrizio Ventura.

Gaetano Donizetti’s, performance will make its debut at the Place des Arts theatre (Wilfrid-Pelletier) Saturday November 09 with performances on the November 12, 14, e 17.

This is bel canto at its best! Soprano Kathleen Kim creates the tour de force title role alongside celebrated Quebec tenor Frédéric Antoun in the role of Edgardo. A tragic betrayal and a deadly forced marriage are brought to life with spectacular voices and vocal fireworks — everything you want in an opera!

Fabrizo Ventura was the general musical director for the Theater und Sinfonieorchester Münster for ten years and has been the conductor at the Istanbul State Opera. He has conducted opera productions at such companies as Volksoper Vienna, the Prague State Opera, Opera di Roma, Teatro Verdi Trieste, Teatro Carlo Felice, the Arena di Verona, Opéra de Nice, the Australian Opera, the Royal Opera House – Covent Garden, and the Royal Opera Houses of Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo.
