Gino Bartali: World War II Italy, the Nazis, and the Cyclist who Inspired a Nation

On the occasion of the “Day of Remembrance 2023”, Ms. McConnon author of the book “Road to Valour: A True Story of World War II Italy, The Nazis, and The Cyclist Who Inspired a Nation” will share the inspiring story of legendary cyclist and Righteous Among the Nations humanitarian Gino Bartali, who made the greatest comeback in Tour de France history and who, between his Tour victories, secretly aided the Italian resistance during World War II.

Aili McConnon is a Canadian writer based in New York. She is the author of the award-winning nonfiction best seller Road-to-Valor, published by Random House, with editions in over 30 countries. She also writes for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, and has appeared on media outlets including NPR, ABC and CNN. Ms.McConnon has earned degrees from Princeton University and Columbia University. She was awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship to attend the University of Cambridge.
