Federico II of Hohenstaufen (1194-1250) was, in his time, considered an extraordinary character. Crowned Emperor in Rome in 1220, descended from the Normans of Sicily through his mother Constance of Hauteville and the Swabians Thinking first of all of his power in Italy, he has attracted the constant claim of the popes, further fueled by his attraction to Islam. Of immense culture, connoisseur of several languages, made in Palermo, his residence. While crusades for three decades had failed to recover Jerusalem, Federico was crowned king in 1229, without a fight, dealing with infidels, the biggest scandal in Rome. Twice excommunicated by Gregory IX, he whom his contemporaries called the Antichrist, condemned him to the challenge by marching on Rome (1241). Innocent IV deposited it in 1244 and the Holy See did not cease to want to cancel his works and his name.

Concert by Julie Truquet, violin and Marie Ève Scorfone, piano. Pietro Mascagni, Cavalleria Rusticana. Intermezzo (Baritone and Basso), Vincenzo Bellini, piano La Sonnambula. Julie Triquet, violin, Hakim Boudaa, piano.
