The interdisciplinary Colloquium favors the ethnographic investigation of the different sensory universes and of the relationships that link body, senses, places and culture. The richness of the topics dealt with also offers the opportunity for a close encounter between various disciplines: anthropology, sociology, history, art history, cinema, communication, semiotics and visual arts. Thanks to the Italian Cultural Institute, the colloquium will be enlightened by the participation of Prof. Antonio Marazzi, renowned Italian anthropologist of the University of Padua, who will present the report “Le rôle expressif des sens” (Session 1: “Les Sens et l ‘espace “, October 31st 2018, 2:00 pm).
Antonio Marazzi, honorary professor of cultural anthropology at the University of Padua, was President (1993-2003) of the Commission d’anthropologie Visuelle de l’Union Internationale des Sciences Anthropologiques et Ethnologiques. He has carried out research at the Waseda University of Tokyo and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Diogène” and “Visual Anthropology” magazines. His research fields are numerous, including in particular the civilizations of Tibet and Japan. Among his books, one should remember above Antropologia dei Sensi (Rome, 2010), Antropologia della visione (Rome, 2002), Mi Rai. In Giappone il futuro ha un cuore antico (Florence, 1990), Il potere latente (Milan, 1980).
