An augmented concert is a pioneering research-creation project that introduces, for the first time in a structured way, new audio technologies into the context of the electroacoustic music concert – specifically bone conduction headphones. This new transmission medium will create concert experiences in audio augmented reality: immersive performances in which virtual sources blend with the sounds produced by musicians on stage as well as those projected through loudspeakers. This way, both musicians and audiences can experience a multilayered listening system, opening up new artistic and scientific perspectives.
October 9th, 2025, 8:00 p.m. at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) – 1201 Boul. Saint-Laurent – TICKETS
The concert will premiere four newly commissioned works of mixed music by Ana Dall’Ara-Majek, the duo Catalão-Thibault, Kevin Gironnay, and Nicola Giannini.
The project is directed by Andrea Gozzi (Assistant Professor at the University of Sherbrooke, Associate Director of Artistic Research at CIRMMT), and carried out in collaboration with Akousma, the Pôle lavallois d’enseignement supérieur (PLAN), Mezzo Forte (Meudon, France) and the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal.
