In the deceptive stillness of the National Archaeological Museum of Naple (MANN), a frenetic ferment of activity breathes new life into statues, frescoes, mosaics and finds from various eras. The documentary Agalma lovingly recounts the daily life of the museum staff who dedicate themselves to small tasks that require patience and dedication. Agalma (from the Greek “statue” or “image”) captures the timeless beauty of the museum, its breathtaking display of antiquity and the intimate and intangible network of relationships that unfold within it.
Documentary produced by Parallelo 41, Ladoc, with the support of the Campania Region, MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples, Campania Region Film Commission; presented at La Biennale di Venezia 2020: Giornata Degli Autori – Venetian Nights.
