Every night unnamed bodies arrive in Dr. Cristina Cattaneo’s autopsy room. She calls them Pure Strangers. Pure Strangers belong to the margins of society. They are homeless, prostitutes, runaway teenagers. In recent years mainly migrants, rejected from the Mediterranean Sea to the Italian coasts. If all rights belong to the living, nothing is left to the dead. And what happens when the dead have lost their identity? Faced with this growing multitude, no one seems to care about their right to dignity. Nobody except Cristina.

In a decadent and crisis Cuba, as a backdrop, in a black and white torn by the oscillating Caribbean rain, Alex and Edith, a couple in their thirties, live their love story made up of small daily gestures, stories from the past, nostalgia and a deep intimacy.
With extensive experience as a producer, Stefano Tealdi, invited to the event by the Institute, will join Doc Lab Montreal as a teacher. He will guide the participants to prepare their pitch sessions in front of an audience of experienced professionals from the national and international market.
The RIDM festival, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, will take place from 15 to 26 November 2023. This annual meeting aims to present to the public and cinema professionals a selection of the best documentaries made at national and international level.
