Italian Design Day in the world. On the way of creativity. Round trip between Italy and Montreal

Italy, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, launched on March 2nd, 2017 the celebration of the “Italian Design Day”. On the same day lectures and discussions, in 100 cities around the world 100 events are organized simultaneously where the most well known Italian designers will illustrate the concept of excellence.
Montréal, among the major design centers in the world, has been chosen as one of the 100 cities where the celebration of the “Italian Design Day” will be held on March 2nd 2017. The General Consulate and the Italian Cultural Institute organized an exhibition dedicated to the Italian designer Heinz Waibl and a workshop. The exhibition is entitled “Heinz Waibl. Le voyage creatif”, organized with the Centre de Design dell’Université du Québec à Montréal and it will be opened to the pubblic from February 23rd until April 9th 2017. The workshop will be held on March 2nd at the Centre de Design dell’Université du Québec à Montréal and will highlight, among other distinguished speakers, the Italian designer Luisa Maria Virginia Collina (Politecnico di Milano), an international player in the Italian creativity world.

The discussion will be opened by the Consul General of Italy in Montreal Marco Riccardo Rusconi and Prof. Patrick Evans, Director of the Centre du Design of the Université du Québec in Montreal, and will be conducted by Ginette Gadourie, Director of INTERIEURS magazine. Followed by a Q/A session.

The Italian design is distinguished worldwide for its wealth of creative factors, both material and immaterial. In Italy, Italian design attracts creativity from every part of the world and this is why it’s a production of the Made in Italy, made of designers, art, business, education, communications, crafts etc. The younger generation in a world of creativity, thanks to the ability to continually renew itself, using any kind of innovation, both materials and manufacturing processes.
The creativity of Italian design is expressed in many manufacturing sectors: the furniture, transportation, lighting, automotive, sport, food, accessory and ect. It is the creativity that makes Italian design unique and inimitable in the world and Italy is where all the best designers would like to work and compare with the rich Italian tradition.
