Dante, from past to modernity: Lectura Dantis by Davide Bardi and Pino Micol

The Italian Cultural Institute and the Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois (UNEQ) are pleased to invite you, in a context of series of encounters called “La Piazza – Letteraria”, to the event Lectura Dantis, Dante from past to modernity, recitation and interpretation of the Divina Commedia chants, interpreted by Davide Bardi, Pino Micol, accompanied by the musiciens and Patrice Lessard.

The chosen chants, which will be read, are as follows:

Inferno: I, V, XXVI
Purgatorio: I
Paradiso: VI, XXXIII

The interpretation will be alternating songs played live by Violin and Cello:

Pachelbel – Canone
J.S.Bach – Preludio I suite per violoncello, Aria – Suite n.3 BWV 1068
Vivaldi – Adagio dell’inverno (da le 4 stagioni)
Massenet – Thais ( in sequenza)

Pino Micol – A law graduate, moved to Milan where he studied at the school of the Piccolo Teatro. In 1975 he was the main character in the play Stefano Pelloni called the Passatore, directed by Maurizio Scaparro. Following years of Shakespearian plays with a bare and intense Hamlet replication for three years and passed also in small screening, and the play Riccardo II. In 1978 interprets Cyrano de Bergerac by Rostand, under the direction of Scaparro. He interprets Il fu Mattia Pascal by Pirandello at the Theatre of Rome (1986-87) and Life of Galileo by Brecht (1988-89), directed by Scaparro. Afterwards, he took part in some productions by Veneto Teatro: Le sorprese dell’amore by Marivaux, directed by Sequi, with Ottavia Piccolo (1990) and, in 1991, with Gianna Giachetti, the new Edipo by Renzo Rosso, inspired by the myth of the King of Tebe, of which he is director and performer.

Davide Bardi – He is an actor and storyteller enriching his performances with singing and musical accompaniment. Tells traditional stories of his native region Maremma in Tuscany, including a performance of When the Libeccio Wind Blows, where he interwines the true story of the robber Domenico Tiburzi with local folk tales and legends. Storyteller, actor, musician, Davide is co-director of Italy’s company Raccontamiunastoria, responsible for promoting a whole range of storytelling activities across Italy, including the founding of the International Storytelling Festival of Rome.
