As part of the 2nd Week of Italian Cuisine, held from November 20 to November 26 2017, promoted by MAECI (Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale) MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione dell’Università e della Ricerca) and MIPAAF (Ministero delle politiche agricole alimentari e forestali), the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal in collaboration with Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada (ICCC) present the conference and projection: “Basilicata Secrets” by Anita Aloisio.

Screening of a few video episodes, also dedicated to the city of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019, integrated together in a way of beautiful landscapes, gastronomic traditions, and varieties of material heritage of the Basilicata and of Italy.
Anita Aloisio, Italian-Canadian director, is the author of documentary films. Her first movie “Straniera come donna” (A Woman, Stranger, 2002) was co-produced with the Québec Immigration Ministry, while the film “Les enfants de la loi 101” (Growing up with Bill 101, 2007) has generated heated discussions and still remains highly controversial. In 2016 received a Masters in Communication and Media Studies at Concordia University in Montreal and is currently involved in the production of two projects: “Basilicata Secrets” and “Le Québec de Calliari“.
