Eightieth year of the death of Gabriele d’Annunzio (March 1st 1938) – The tenor Roberto Cresca and the pianist Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara, in concert.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Gabriele d’Annunzio’s death (March 1, 1938), the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal and the Istitut d’Études Méditerranéennes are pleased to present the duo composed by the pianist Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara and the tenor Roberto Cresca.

Gianfranco Pappalardo Fiumara – Professor of Theoretical Musical Disciplines at the Conservatory of Palermo and Professor of Grammar of Music at the Faculty of Arts, University of Palermo, is concert interpreter of Bach and Mozart repertoire. He has performed in Italy and abroad, crossing the Carnegie Hall in New York four times. He is the author of publications on W. A Mozart and Antonio Salieri as well as recently a very special recording of the Goldberg Variations by J. S. Bach edited with the national magazine Classic Voice.

Roberto Cresca – He started very young studying piano and percussion followed by the study of singing. Has performed in numerous concerts and recitals that have seen him engaged throughout Italy (Marrucino Theater of Chieti, Theater Union of Viterbo, Municipal Theater of Piacenza, Teatro Bibiena in Mantova, Teatro Arcimboldi, etc.) and was tenor soloist in the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini with the choir Geneva in the basilica of Saint Eustace in Rome directed by Jose Helvago. Recently he played Salvo in Salvo D’Acquisto’s opera by Antonio Fortunato under the direction of Marcello Lippi, Duca Ottavio in Don Giovanni Tenorio by G. Gazzaniga and in Il convitato di Pietra by G. Pacini in the first Italian performance in modern times for the Fondazione Teatro Verdi of Pisa. He has recorded for the CD operArias OMA MUSIC directed by M° Viktor Karzalis containing a selection of the most famous arias for tenor.
