Italians who, beyond any orientation, are the bearers of knowledge accumulated in Italy and diffuse the following, even without their knowledge, a provision or a vocation of ancient origin: the generous exchange of culture, comforted by a keen sense of human comprehension.

Conference in Italian

An increasing number of scholars and experts have come to consider conventional trade unsustainable in the long run, not only on an economic level, but also on a social and environmental level. Based on the logic of profit maximization, it results in strategies and action plans that often privilege cost minimization over the respect of the fundamental rights of the main stakeholders in the supply chain. Most consumer goods are now produced in developing countries, where labor costs are minimal and labor standards are either weak or non-existent. There are countless stories of people that live every day with the pain and frustration of not being able to support their family, secure a future for their children or contribute to their community. The scenario is extremely complex, but solutions do exist. The aim of this conference is to examine the limitations of conventional trade and present an alternative approach to the relationship between producers and end consumers, founded on transparency, dialogue and respect: fair trade.
