“Storie che nascono in redazione”
Malacqua by Nicola Pugliese and L’abusivo by Antonio Franchini
Two books have become “literary cases” and inescapable reference texts to tell Napoli through journalism and journalists. Malacqua was released in 1977, L’abusivo in 2001. The city is described in two of its most enduring seasons, with different looks and styles that both cross the private and collective chronicle in the enchantment and disenchantment of its dreams and its dramas. From the typewriter ‘Andreoli Carlo’ alter ego imagined by Pugliese, to that bloody Giancarlo Siani, alter ego with which tragic and real Franchini lends his voice to a generation of young people who aspired to sign on the front page.
Francesco Palmieri was born in Naples and lives in Rome. A professional journalist since 1988, he was a “black” chronicler at the Giornale di Napoli and at Paese Sera. In 1987 he was awarded Il Premiolino. He is currently deputy editor-in-chief of the Agi (Agenzia Giornalistica Italia) with oversight of international projects. He has published several non-fiction and fiction books including Sole, Luna and Talia. Magic and mysteries in Naples (1984); Dangerous lives. Men and ghosts of martial arts (2009); and with Mondadori The Neapolitan book of the dead (2012); La Camorrista (2013) and lastly Little Dragon. The life of Bruce Lee (2017). His stories have been published by the magazine Nuovi Argomenti.
