Disillusioned young director Alberto is convinced that cinema has nothing left to offer him. After years spent living in Rome hoping to make a film, he decides to return to his hometown. Provincial life, with its slow pace and familiar faces, seems to offer him an unexpected refuge. Alberto rediscovers the tranquillity he had lost. But it doesn’t take long for doubts to resurface, in the form of shelved desires and the one question that has never ceased to torment him: what should he really do with his life?
