“The Italian Way”, a documentary film about young Italians abroad presented by its director himself: Luigi Maria Perotti

The Italian Cultural Institute, part of the “Life and identity migrate: Italian pictures in the cinema of yesterday and today“, created with the École des médias at the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Department Languages, Literatures and Cultures of McGill University, is pleased to present the Luigi Maria Perotti director the documentary film:

The Italian Way”, produced by Stamen Film with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, it’s a documentary film showing the way Italians are seen abroad, stories about young people who left Italy with winning ideas and who have found abroad, temporarily or permanently, a new way of being Italian. The main characters are three young Italian emigrants abroad to excel in their field of activity. Each of them live in different places in the world (Europe, North America, South America or Australia) and their daily life becomes the essential material of the documentary, which also focuses on how they are perceived by friends, colleagues and other nationalities.

Luigi Maria Perotti is born in San Benedetto del Tronto (Italy) and he lives in between Roma and London. He currently works for Rai (Italian public broadcaster) as reporter and documentary filmmaker. Since 2013, he worked as a correspondent in Europe, North America, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Middle East, Afghanistan, Australia and Indonesia. He works as Vlogger for the Italian online magazine “Cronache Letterarie”. Lastly, as documentary filmmaker he directed the following works: “Fascio&Compass” (2018) on the story of Italian Freemasonry during the Fascism; “My Best. The Man behind George Best’s Icon“ (2017) on the story of the relationship between the iconic footballer George Best and his son; “The Italian Way” (2016) on the italian lifestyle around the world.
