The most common food on the streets of Naples is certainly pizza, because it was in Naples that Domenico Testa in the first half of the nineteenth century prepared pizza for the Queen of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Later, in the summer of 1889, when King Umberto I and Queen Margherita arrived in Naples, the pizza chefs Don Raffaele Esposito and his wife Rosa Brandi invented the “pizza Margherita”, a tri-colored pizza, a tribute to the royals and the flag of the kingdom: the white of the mozzarella, the red of the tomato and the green of the basil. Pizza is a universal dish, because its virtue is versatility. With the Neapolitan musical group “La Maschera” a distinctive sign of the streets and alleys of Naples reaches Montréal, where ingredients, foods, smells, colors … are the triumph of light, of natural colors: an outdoor experience, and another appearance of beauty!
La Maschera is a young group of Neapolitan musicians founded in 2013 by Roberto Colella and Vincenzo Capasso. In 2014, they released the first album “O’vicolo’ e l’alleria“, which marks the success and fame of their music. Melodies and rhythms of various origins make La Maschera’s music unique in its genre, thanks to the combination of 60s and 70s rock with motifs from the popular musical tradition of southern Italy and Africa. In 2017 is released the second album, entitled ParcoSofia, a real blaze of sounds of all kinds. Roberto Colella (vocals, guitar, saxophone and keyboards), Vincenzo Capasso (trumpet), Alessandro Morlando (guitar), Antonio “Gomez” Caddeo (bass and double bass) and Marco Salvatore (drums) collaborate creatively from the summer of 2015 with the Senegalese musician Laye Ba, a partnership culminated in the singles Te vengo a cercà (Ti vengo a cercare) e Salaam Aleikum (La pace regni su di voi).
