As part of the exhibition “Italia è Moda”, the Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal will present the documentary “Costumitaly”, which explores the central role of costume design in film and theatre by examining the creative relationship between costume designers, directors, and actors.
Drawing on expert interviews, archival materials, and original sketches, the documentary pays tribute to the great Italian masters of costume design, including Piero Tosi and Danilo Donati, while celebrating their enduring artistic legacy.
The documentary also explores the relationship between fashion and costume design, highlighting the excellence of Made in Italy, the tradition of Italian craftsmanship, and the outstanding artisanal expertise that defines the country. It then takes audiences behind the scenes of Italy’s historic costume ateliers, true guardians of a unique cultural heritage and exceptional craftsmanship.
The screening will take place in the presence of Clara Tosi Pamphili, curator of the exhibition Italia è Moda.
