Italy, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, launched on March 20, 2019 the celebration of the “Italian Design Day”. On the same day lectures and discussions, in 100 cities around the world 100 events are organized simultaneously where the most well known Italian designers will illustrate the concept of excellence. The history of the success of Italian design which involves artistic activity, artisanal wisdom, experimentation and industrial innovation, was born in the 50’s with the Bel Design and continues today in the recent creations that unite Italian and foreign designers in the name of Made in Italy. It is a story of men and women whose taste for the aesthetic is recognized throughout the world and whose ingenuity is still contributing to the enrichment of daily life.
Named UNESCO City of Design, Montreal will host on March 19, 2019, a lecture by Peter Bottazzi, scenographer and multifaceted designer, thanks to the collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal and the Centre de Design Université du Québec à Montréal.

The design vision, its making, materialize, providing for the use of multiple elements, often impalpable, intangible. The use of emptiness, of light, of silence, of the fragmentation of rhythms and the variation of scale in addition to asymmetry. The attempt to make the observer, the visitor uncomfortable, make him an active part of a story and to be able to give the instruments to experiment autonomously and personally. The crossing of the known neither seek the thrill. This is the philosophy of space by Peter Bottazzi.
Peter Bottazzi, scenographer and multifaceted designer, began his career as a puppeteer, and later as a lighting technician and set designer of the Compagnia Carlo Colla e Figli. He later collaborated with many directors, such as Peter Greenway, Moni Ovadia and Robert Wilson, and he continuously edited the staging for Steve Mc Curry’s exhibitions. Designed in recent years striking productions of art exhibitions in Italy for clients such as Il Sole 24 ore Culture, Civita, Giunti, Contrast, Sugar international music, Change performing Arts, the Spoleto Festival, Triennale of Milan, Abitare il Tempo.
