CULTURE COURSES

VENEZIA CROCEVIA DI CULTURE (24 hour)
January 16th ->april 3rd 2023
Monday 12pm–2pm online
Prof.ssa Maria Eugenia Giochi

The famous Serenissima has a long history of immense wealth, contradictions and contrasts. Constantly threatened, despite the natural defense of the lagoon which made the city impregnable, from the 14th to the 17th century, Venice dominated the Mediterranean and remained a crossroads of cultures. Architects such as Sansovino and Palladio and painters such as Titian and Tintoretto have left traces of the prestige and power achieved by the city, without neglecting the sense of transience and precariousness that hovered in the folds of Venetian society at the time. The course will focus on Venice both from the point of view of its greatest artists and through the eyes of its inhabitants, in a mosaic of stories that have made history!

STORIA DELL'OPERA ITALIANA (16 hour)
January 18th -> march 8th 2023
Wednesday 2pm–4pm in person
Prof. Federico Volpe

The course aims to reconstruct the history and main characteristics of Italian opera. Students will have the opportunity to get in touch with the masterpieces of great composers such as Rossini, Verdi, Puccini and others, thanks to which opera is known all over the world. This will be a way to develop listening skills and knowledge of the musical repertoire which constitutes a fundamental component of the art, culture and soul of Italy.

DONNE CHE DOVRESTI CONOSCERE (16 hour)
January 19th ->march 9th 2023
Thursday 6pm–8pm online
Prof.ssa Benedetta Diamante

Exploring the last two centuries, we will talk about some of the women who, despite an unfavorable context, have made Italian history and culture. The Nobel prizes Rita Levi Montalcini and Grazia Deledda, the pedagogue Maria Montessori, the astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, are just some of the women whose life and achievements we will learn about.
