The great actor and comedian Eduardo Scarpetta, star of the film and played by Toni Servillo, is the hit of the box office. Of humble origins, he established himself thanks to his comedies and his characters and became very rich and very famous. At the peak of his success, Scarpetta took a dangerous venture: parodying La figlia di Iorio, the tragedy of the greatest Italian poet of the time, Gabriele D’Annunzio.
