Paolo Milone, psychiatrist and author of ‘’L’arte di legare le persone’’, (2021), worked in the emergency psychiatry ward for forty years. In his debut book, he takes us with him to Ward 77 where we know the bitter taste of mental illness. A collection of thoughts, of small reflections sometimes even very brief, a notebook, in which Milone contains fragments of life in Psychiatry. And he does it through a direct, deep, cutting but extremely engaging style. We meet very different characters, from colleagues to patients, with whom the password becomes empathy. A human book, without taboos, in which bodies and smells, looks and sensations, screams and silences, tell us without filters what it means to be mentally ill and to work with a mentally ill person. ‘’L’arte di legare le persone’’,is a literary journey into a real world that exists, and as such is made up of deep suffering and, at the same time, moments of irony and fun. A book that has the ability to put the reader face to face with suffering and make him smile the next moment: just like life.

Paolo Milone was born in Genoa in 1954. He worked in a Mental Health Center and then in an emergency psychiatry ward from 1988 to 2016. He made his debut as a writer in January 2022, publishing his first book ‘’L’arte di legare le persone’’,for the Einaudi publishing house.
