Registration required

Alessandra Lazzari presents an overall picture of Italian comics in the relationship with the "other" world of Africa, in particular with respect to the realization of the imperial dream and the conquest of a territory away from the homeland. The process develops around the pivotal events of the Italo-Turkish war for the conquest of Libya (1911-1912) and that of Ethiopia (1935-1936), and then follows the parable of World War II and the disappearance of imperial dream. All of this is also reflected in the most recent genre of entertainment represented by the comic.

Alessandra Lazzari, archaeologist from the Ancient Near East with field experience in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Iran, Turkmenistan. She deals with the computerization of archaeological data and the creation of databases; management of the archives of the Shahr-i Sokhta excavation; integration projects of advanced survey techniques, GIS and numerical models for the knowledge of archaeological sites; she developed a personal project on the perception of the exotic in Italian comics.
