Alessandra Lazzari offers a particular look at Italian comic strips. Her analysis develops both from the long habit of leafing through comic books and from the curiosity to understand how and when, and why, in Italy certain themes have been chosen by screenwriters, designers and publishers. Why the comic? Because through an apparently simple language (images, a few words) comics can convey an enormous amount of messages, voluntary and involuntary, casual, accidental and at the same time highly intentional. The world to the East of Italy has never been truly unknown, indeed, there have always been links of various kinds. However, the attitude of authors and readers is very bizarre as this presentation will show.

Alessandra Lazzari, archaeologist from the Ancient Near East with field experience in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Iran, Turkmenistan. She deals with the computerization of archaeological data and the creation of databases; management of the archives of the Shahr-i Sokhta excavation; integration projects of advanced survey techniques, GIS and numerical models for the knowledge of archaeological sites; she developed a personal project on the perception of the exotic in Italian comics.
