The Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, in the context of the promotion of contemporary Italian cinema, is pleased to present the cinematographic work of the director Paolo Quaregna. At the webinar, entitled "The other homeland. When we are migrants”, the director Paolo Quaregna himself, Francesco D’Arelli, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Montréal, and various other distinguished guests, including directors and emigration scholars.

The webinar is also an opportunity to discuss the latest feature documentary by Paul Quaregna, The other homeland (2019), co-produced and distributed by Cinecittà Luce.The film features some exciting portraits of first and second generation Italian immigrants in Québec.Champions of "resilience", whose stories can give rise to useful reflections on the current theme of migration in the world. Also in light of the fact that, since 2006 - a figure not adequately disclosed - the number of Italian emigrants in the world is constantly growing again.

Paolo Quaregna shot his first documentaries in 1979 for the newborn Rai Tre. Since then he has made two feature films for cinema and about thirty documentaries on social and anthropological themes for cinema and TV. Since 1989 he has made his films in France, in sub-Saharan Africa and in Quebec, where he has worked mainly in contact with the natives Inuit, Algonquin and Innu. His latest feature-length documentary, Another Homeland (2019) is instead dedicated to Italian emigrants in Quebec.
