Accademia Bizantina, conducted by Ottavio Dantone, performs Monteverdi’s famous opera in the area in front of the Spoleto Cathedral.

Thursday, August 20, 2020, 3:30pm (9:30pm, Rome)

Piazza Duomo, Spoleto

The Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi is considered the first complete expression of the opera, designed with the aspiration to “merge” different forms of representation; symbolically, the 2020 edition of the Festival of the Two World of Spoleto will open with this opera which, after over four centuries, remains a landmark in the Italian and world music heritage. The place for the performance will be the area in front of the Spoleto Cathedral; here, in respect of the music of Monteverdi and in perfect union with the dramaturgy, Accademia Bizantina, conducted by Ottavio Dantone, will once again give life to the human and universal story of Orfeo.
