From December 4th 2018, the possession of an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, not lower than level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is an essential condition for the recognition of citizenship pursuant to art. 5 and 9 of the law n. 91 of February 5th 1992.
The verification of this requirement must be carried out through the acquisition of:
- a degree awarded by a public educational institution or an equal;
- a certification issued by a certifying body.
