Capodimonte Museum: Mariella Pandolfi, “Be faithful. Free associations beyond coronavirus”, Italy called – Capodimonte today tells… (May 22nd, 2020)

Mariella Pandolfi, an internationally renowned anthropologist and emeritus professor of Anthropology at the Université de Montréal, as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples, returns to reflect on the art and exhibition space of the museum. A proof of sensitivity, which already saw her engaged as curator of the Carta Bianca Capodimonte Imaginaire exhibition.  (Naples, 12 December 2017 – 11 November 2018) curated by Sylvain Bellenger and Andrea Viliani, an opportunity to draw on the very rich collections of the Capodimonte Museum and thus to conceive the exhibition space of one of its rooms.

The current epidemiological emergency requires a rethinking of museums, also imagining a re-foundation, however always faithful to their origin and history. Loyalty thus becomes the guiding gaze and in this sense Mariella Pandolfi reveals in the correspondence of Adorno and Alban Berg, two of the eminent protagonists of the twentieth century, feelings, contradictions, roughness, crisis …: all necessary for overcoming the afflictions of the human, overly human! “Sei treu, sii fedele!
