Barbara Fiorio was born in Genoa. She teaches communication and she holds writing workshops, such as the Gruppo di Supporto Scrittori Pigri (GSSP), which is now at its 10th edition. She debuted in 2009 with C’era una svolta (Eumeswil) and then she wrote several novels: Chanel non fa scarpette di cristallo (Castelvecchi, 2011), Buona fortuna (Mondadori, 2013 – Spanish edition for Suma de letras, 2014), Qualcosa di vero (Feltrinelli, 2015 – German edition for Thiele-Verlag, 2016) and Vittoria (Feltrinelli, 2018).
She published for Einaudi the tale La gattara (from the anthology Gatti. I racconti più belli, 2015), for Morellini she wrote Noi eravamo quelli che…, a short story about the 2014 flood (in the anthology Genova d’autore, 2017) and for Il Canneto she published the story Laura e Carlo (from the anthology Il ponte, a sostegno della Valpocevera dopo il crollo del Ponte Morandi di Genova, 2018). In 2019 she came back to her first work, extending and updating it, and she published with Morellini the second edition of C’era una svolta. Cosa hanno in comune Andersen, i Grimm e Perrault con Disney? Niente.
