``Art Libre`` by the Italian director Luigi Capasso at the 38th edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA)

38th edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA ) cancelled

“The situation having evolved rapidly, we honor and respect the decision by the public authorities. In 38 years of existence, this is the first time that our major annual event will not take place. Over the past few months, the FIFA team has worked with dedication and passion to prepare an exceptional edition this year. We will keep this energy and pursue the unique mission of the Festival at a later date.", declared Philippe U. del Drago, FIFA’s Executive Director.

The Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal is pleased to announce that this year, even thanks to its support, the Italian film director Luigi Capasso will take part to the 38th edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), in the category FIFA Official Selection - Short Film. His short film, ''Art Libre'', will have its world premiere.

The film highlights the work of Italian street artist Milo during his visit to Montreal. Known for his huge murals on buildings around the world, he is presented with a new subject in the heart of the Plateau-Mont Royal.

Luigi Capasso is an Italian film director. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples with a bachelor degree in painting and an expertise in public art. His works are stagings where space, light and performance are harmoniously intertwined in order to communicate stories and visions of the current reality. In 2013 he moved to Montréal with his partner Sara. His first short film, Distance, was selected in several festivals in Europe and in North America, such as the Festival international du film sur l'art in Montréal and the Food Film Festival in New York. Distance also won an award for the best short film in the Devour film festival in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) is dedicated to the international promotion of films on art and media arts. In the 38th edition, which will be held in Montreal from March 17 to 29 in and in Quebec City from March 20 to 29 2020, more than 240 works from 39 countries will be presented to the public.
