The Italian Cultural Institute and the Centre d’études médiévales de l’Université de Montréal, in collaboration with Concordia University within the series of conferences dedicated to the topic “Francesco e al-Malik, 800 anni dopo. L’incontro tra Francesco d’Assisi e il sultano al-Malik al-Kamil (1219)” (September 17, 2018 – December 10, 2019), are pleased to present the conferences by Giuseppina Brunetti “La politica culturale di Federico II: uno snodo per l’Italia e per l’Europa” and “Autographes d’écrivains du Moyen Âge: recherches et perspectives”.

The meeting between Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt took place eight centuries ago, in 1219. More than celebrating a centenary, the cycle of conferences, conceived by the Italian Cultural Institute and by the Center d'études médiévales of the Université de Montréal, bringing together scholars of various disciplines, all of high profile and international fame, wants to bring the public closer to the meaning of this extraordinary event for contemporaries and posterity.

Giuseppina Brunetti, Romance philologist formed at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", is known for his discoveries of ancient Italian texts, with particular reference to the Sicilian poetic school, and for the theoretical reflection and the editorial care dedicated to medieval autographs of Romance area (Autografi francesi medievali, Rome, Viella, 2014). Director of the “CESBI-Centro di Studi su Benvenuto da Imola” and of the "Philologically." Novel and Romance studies ". Is Ordinary Member of the Center for Contemporary Poetry of the University of Bologna. Engaged in national and international research projects, she is the author of numerous publications; has received several awards and recognitions from prestigious centers and “Dotation Intérnational J.M. Herman / International Herman’s Grant ”and, for her discoveries of ancient Italian texts, received the Akademie deutsch-italienischer Studien Award.
