Radio Lausberg is a music band from the Lucan-Calabrian area named "Lausberg Area" in 1939 after the renowned german linguist Heinrich Lausberg (1912-1992), which studied the variety of dialects in the region. This area is characterized by highly conservative local dialects. Geographically, the area corresponds to the region in between Tyrrhenian Sea and Ionic Sea, with the Mount Pollino in the middle, and it is bounded by two isogloss: the northern Maratea-S. Chirico Raparo-Calvera-Teana-Fardella-Senise-Colobraro-Tursi, in Lucanian region, and the southern Diamante-Verbicaro-Orsomarso-Saracena-Castrovillari-Cassano, in Calabrian region. This is a very secluded area compared to the southern linguistic one, where dialects are distinguished notably by a conservative vowel system, comparable to the Sardinian one: only five vowels, and no distinction between open and closed vowels. This is an emblematic example of ancient latinization of the region.
